On Thursday 10 April 2025, at the Hellenic Army Academy in Vari, Attica, the Embassy of Cyprus in Greece co-organized with the Hellenic Army Academy a voluntary blood donation on the occasion of the 70th National Anniversary since the beginning of the National Liberation Struggle of the National Organisation of Cypriot Fighters 1955-1959, on 1 April 1955.

The goal of the voluntary blood donation was the creation of supply for the Blood Bank of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, in order to cover the needs in blood of Cypriot patients, Cypriot visitors and Cypriot permanent residents in Greece. 78 Cadets participated in total, out of whom 24 Greek Cypriots, as well as 37 students of Higher Military Education Institutes – Higher Military Schools of NCOs, out of whom 30 Greek Cypriots.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens Mr. Stavros Avgoustidis, the Consular of the Republic of Cyprus Ms. Christina-Stella Ziga and the Commander of the Military Academy Major General Anastasios Polychronos.
