The Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, accompanied by the Commander of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands “AIGEAS” Lieutenant General Georgios Dimitropoulos, conducted a visit on Thursday 08 August 2019, to the Area of Responsibility of the 79th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “MYCALE” and the 80th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “KOS”.
During this occasion the Chief visited the HQ of IKARIA Island Defence Command where he was given a tour of the facilities of the “Sergeant Tsimbidis Ioannis” Camp, he was briefed on current activities and he gave a speech to all of the personnel, stressing the importance of their work at a social and operational level.
Later on, the Chief visited the Surveillance Outposts of “KEFALES – IKARIA”, “FOURNOI” and “AGATHONISI” on the islands of Ikaria, Fournoi and Agathonisi respectively, where he inspected the immediate response detachments of the Surveillance Outposts, ascertained the high availability of assets and the high level of the personnel. Finally, he visited National Guard Detachments on the islands of Leipsoi and Arkoi.
