On Wednesday, 31 October 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Area of Responsibility of the 5th Infantry Brigade “V CRETE DIVISION”.
The Chief first visited the NATO Missile Firing Installation, where Artillery Units, within the framework of their operational evaluation, conducted fires as follows:
– A HAWK Guided Missile Battalion conducted live fires.
– A Light AA Artillery Battalion conducted live fires with the “ASRAD” AA system.
The success rates of the HAWK and ASRAD fires ranged between 92% and 100%.
The Chief then visited the 1st Parachutist Battalion in Hania, Crete, where he attended a Field Exercise.
After the conclusion of the exercise, the Chief addressed the personnel of the 1st Parachutist Battalion:
– mentioning the critical role of the Special Forces for deterrence.
– stressing the value of good command of the personnel.
– stressing the value of self-improvement.
The Chief once again had the opportunity to confirm the high morale and excellent level of training, as well as the pride and effectiveness of the personnel across the entire range of activities.
