On Thursday, 19 April, 2018, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, attended the naming ceremony of two halls of the Hellenic 1st Army/EU-OHQ, to pay tribute to two of the Officers who served in its Headquarters and were fatally injured on duty on board an Army Aviation helicopter, on 19 April, 2017, in Sarantaporo, Elassona.
The following two halls were renamed:
• The Hall of Honours was renamed “LT GEN IOANNIS TZANIDAKIS HALL OF HONOURS”.
• The Auditorium was renamed “LT GEN THOMAS ADAMOS AUDITORIUM”.
The ceremony which was held in the Headquarters was attended by the families of the fallen officers, the Hellenic 1st Army Commander Dimokritos Zervakis, as well as the entire personnel of the Headquarters.
