On Thursday, 09 June 2022, a ceremony as held, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, for the opening of the Kalamata Garrison guesthouse, which was funded with a donation from the President of the “Kapetan Vasilis and Karmen Konstantakopoulos” Foundation, Mr. Achilleas Konstantakopoulos.
Specifically, the guesthouse consists of 18 apartments which were constructed by fully remodelling – renovating older facilities. The new guesthouse, which includes facilities for disabled persons and wireless internet connection, has been modelled based on modern residential standards and provides excellent accommodation conditions for military personnel and their families.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Members of Parliament, the President of the “Kapetan Vasilis and Karmen Konstantakopoulos” Foundation, Mr. Achilleas Konstantakopoulos, the Commanding General of the Higher Army Support Military Command “THISEAS”, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, representatives of the local government and church, as well as the honorary Commanding General of the Higher Army Support Military Command “THISEAS”, Lieutenant General Leonidas Kakavas (ret.).
