Fort Roupel Museum

In the context of the Armed Forces contribution to the preservation of the national traditions, historical memory and the promotion of Military Museums, the Fort Roupel Museum has been operating since 2005, on the site surrounding the fort of the same name.

The historical site of Fort Roupel includes the Monument of the Fallen from the battle of the same name (6-9 April 1941), parts of the fort still intact and the Military Museum. Part of the fort’s galleries have been shaped into a museum site and the visitor can take a tour of the largest complex of fortifications along the Greek-Bulgarian borders, with galleries over 4.000 metres long.

On the Museum’s site, samples of individual weaponry from the time of World War II, decorations – medals awarded to the fighters who played an essential role in the Battle of the Forts, as well as their uniforms are on display.
