Field Exercise “TYFOEFS” was conducted on Friday, 18 November 2021, at the headquarters of the 873rd Fuel Depot in Menemeni, Thessaloniki, under the direction of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”. FX “TYFOEFS” is an emergency response exercise, simulating conditions of a major accident.

The exercise, which was conducted by personnel and assets of Units of the II Mechanised Infantry Division “ELASSON”, the Service Support Division, the 71st Airmobile Brigade “PONTOS”, the 1st Army Aviation Brigade “KILKIS-LAHANAS”, the Engineer Brigade, the Signals Brigade, and the Military Police of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR, as well as personnel and assets of the 424th General Training Military Hospital, the 113th Combat Wing, the Special Disaster Response Team of the 747th Special Engineer Battalion, the Police, the Fire Service, the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAB), the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Independent Civil Protection Directorate of the Region of Central Macedonia, and the Volunteer Rescue Team “Thermaikos Gulf Hunter and Friends Association”, included scenarios such as building evacuation after an earthquake, industrial fire response, building collapse due to earthquake, dangerous liquid and gas leak, personnel rescue and evacuation to the hospital, overturned vehicle recovery, and aerial forest firefighting.

The exercise was attended by the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Petros Demestichas (representing the Chief HAGS), the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS”, Lieutenant General Anastasios Spanos, representatives of the Region of Central Macedonia, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Civil Protection of the Region of Central Macedonia and the Municipality of Thessaloniki, EKAB, Hellenic Petroleum SA, as well as General and Senior Officers of the Armed and Security Forces.
