On Thursday, 16 May 2019, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and CH-47 Chinook helicopters from the US were delivered to Greece. The Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, accompanied by the Army Aviation Director, Major General Christos Iliopoulos, visited the area to attend the process.
The helicopters flew with mixed crews consisting of Greek and American pilots. The air assets have been characterised as immediately usable and are expected to become fully operational soon.
