On Thursday 08 May 2025, in the presence of the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Dendias, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the inauguration ceremony of the newly renovated “AGIOS FANOURIOS” Surveillance Outpost of the Symi Island Defence Command was held. The renovation of the outpost was a donation by civilians, Ms. Iro Vahari and Mr. Leonidas Kabanis.

The ceremony was attended by MPs for the Dodecanese Mr, Vasilios-Nikolaos Ypsilantis as representative of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Ioannis Pappas, Mr. Emmanouil Konsolas, Ms. Tsabika (Mika) Iatridi, and Mr. Georgios Nikitiadis, the Head of Region for Southern Aegean Mr. Giorgos Chatzimarkos, the Mayor of Symi, Mr. Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Symi, Tilos, Chalki, and Kastellorizon Mr. Chrysostomos B, the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEAS”, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, the Mayor of Rhodes and President of the Regional Municipality Association, Mr. Alexandros Koliadis, active duty and retired Army and Security Forces Officers, as well as other guests.
