On Wednesday 14 August 2019, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, paid an urgent visit to the HQ of the 2nd Army Aviation Group, and specifically, to the 4th Army Aviation Battalion, accompanied by the Director of the Army Aviation Directorate Major General Christos Iliopoulos.
During his visit, the Chief talked to crews of CH-47 Chinook Helicopter, participating in fire fighting on Evia island and attended their preparation for today’s operations. He highlighted the importance of their work, as part of army’s social contribution, he praised their effort and self-sacrifice. He also congratulated the personnel for the maintenance of the flying assets which is performed overnight, for them to be ready to operate at first light next morning.
