On Wednesday, July 4, 2018 the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis paid a visit to the Area of Responsibility of the 8th Motorised Brigade (8th MOT BRIG-VIII INF DIV “EPIRUS”).
First, the Chief visited the Fuel Depot of the 8th Support Battalion in Preveza.  Continuing his visit, the Chief attended a ceremony organized by the Municipality of Zitsa, to honour the Land Minefield Clearance Battalion, for the ammunition clearance works at the area of the municipal district of Eleousa, Ioannina.
The research and clearance works started in 2016 and were completed in 2018, whereas the total number of non-exploded missiles, hand grenades and explosive devices destroyed, comes up to 1250.
We are proud, since the Land Minefield Clearance Battalion, through its activities all over Greece, offers the best example of social contribution to our Homeland.
