On Thursday 30 May 2019, Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, visited the Field of Fire and Exercise, in Petrochori-Xanthi.
The Chief observed the Competition between type-Leopard 1A5 Tank Crews, carried out by personnel of Armour Units (Battalions) of the Land Army.
The competition constitutes an evaluation of the crews in operational procedures with measurable tests which focus on matters of small components’ tactic, fire technique and tank technical matters. 2019 is the second year in a row this competition takes place, since the Hellenic Army General Staff aims at establishing it as a reward practice among Armour personnel.
The Chief awarded the keepsakes to the participants and congratulated the crew of the 7th Medium Tank Battalion who, with their prowess and excellent performance, ascended to the first place of the competition’s final rating.
