On Sunday 6 April 2025, in the presence of the Commanding General of the 1st Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS” Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, representing the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the 84th anniversary of the Battle of the Forts, which took place from 06 to 09 April 1941, was celebrated at the fort of “Roupel”. During the anniversary ceremony, a memorial service and wreath laying were conducted in memory of the Officers and Soldiers of the Hellenic Army, who defended and protected the Forts, in April 1941.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Anastasios Hatzivasiliou, representing the Hellenic Government, the MP of Serres Mr. Theofilos Leontaridis, representing the Hellenic Parliament, the Mayor of Sintiki Mr. Georgios Tatsios, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Sidirokastron Makarios, the Vice Regional Governor of Serres Mr. Panagiotis Spiropoulos, the Deputy Commander of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “MEGAS ALEXANDROS” Major General Nikolaos Dimitrakos, representatives of the local self-government, in-service and retired Officers of the Army and the Security Forces, and other guests.
