On Monday, 23 June 2025, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Thanasis Davakis, and the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, a ceremony was held for the completion of the electrical interconnection project of the Ro and Strongyli islets with the island of Meghisti.

The ceremony, which took place at the Surveillance Outpost of Ro, included a Divine Liturgy, wreath laying, and speeches.

The ceremony was attended by MP for the Dodecanese Mr. Emmanouil Konsolas, the Deputy Head of the Region of Southern Aegean, Mr. Apostolos Asprakis, the Mayor of Meghisti, Nikolaos Asvestis, the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEAS”, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, the Commanding General of the Hellenic Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Georgios Manouras, representatives of the Chiefs of Hellenic Navy General Staff and Hellenic Air Force General Staff, the CEO of HEDNO, Mr. Anastasios Manos, representatives of the local government and the Church, active duty and retired Armed and Security Forces Officers, and other guests.

Following the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, visited the headquarters of the Meghisti Island Defence Command, where he was briefed on the Command’s mission and its operational and training activities.
