On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July 2025, the celebration of Prophet Elias Thesvitis, Patron Saint of Army Aviation, as well as the “Day of Remembrance and Honour of Army Aviation” took place at the “CAPTAIN (ARTY) SPYRIDON DELAPORTAS” military camp in Megara-Attica.
In particular, on Saturday 19 July 2025, the Great Vespers and the procession of the icon of Prophet Elias took place in the presence of the Chief of Staff HAGS Lieutenant General Grigorios Bountliakis representing the Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis and the Chief/HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.
On Sunday 20 July 2025, a Memorial Service and wreath laying were made at the Holy Church in the Military Camp and, upon completion of the ceremony, a demonstration of the assets and systems of the Army Aviation was perfprmed.
The celebrations were honoured with the presence of the Deputy Regional Governor of West Attica Mr. Kleanthis Varelas, the Director of the HAGS/Directorate of Military Chaplains father Nektarios Markakis, who officiated the ceremonies, representatives of the local self-administration, active duty and retired Officers, and other guests.
