On Tuesday 14 May 2024, in the context of the celebration of the 104th Anniversary of the Liberation of Alexandroupoli city, celebratory events were conducted, attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Mr Christos Staikouras, as representative of the President of the Hellenic Government, and by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.
The events included the arrival of the Gunboat ΚΑSΟS, at the port of Alexandroupoli, where the public had the opportunity to visit it, the raising of the largest Greek Flag, the conduct of the Divine Liturgy and Doxology at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nikolaos, the memorial service and wreath laying at the Domna Vizvyzi Monument, the conduct of student and military parade, with the participation of foot detachments and mechanised assets of the Division, honorary detachment of the Northern Greece Naval Station, the demonstration, by a Demonstration Platoon of the Air Force NCOs Academy and pass-through of OH-58 KIOWA Helicopters and F-16 Aircraft.
