Long-term Volunteers (NCOs), after the completion of their 5-year obligatory service, have the choice, if they so wish, to file a request and be evaluated to be selected for further stay in the Armed Forces with the rank they have as Long-term Volunteers, up until the completion of a 35-year actual service with pension benefits and they can be promoted up to the rank of 1st Lieutenant and the corresponding rank of the other Armed Forces Services

With a similar presidential decree, the terms and conditions are stipulated for the award of the rank of Captain upon retirement and the corresponding ranks of the other Armed Forces Services to 1st Lieutenants who are Long-term Volunteers and at the stage of retirement. More particularly, promotions are realised after the completion, at each rank, of the minimum amount of service, as follows:

The NCOs originating from the institution of Professional Soldiers can be promoted up to the rank of Sergeant Major. They can be promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer only in case of gallant action.
