To become a member of the Army, one will have to train to always be in readiness to execute their duties.

Admission in the Hellenic Army Academy (Evelpidon) and the Hellenic NCOs Academy is exclusively conducted through the Panhellenic Entrance Exams conducted annually, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. The number of inductees is stipulated by a joint decision of the Ministers of National Defence, Education and Religious Affairs and Finance. A basic and necessary prerequisite for admission in the aforementioned academies is the successful completion of preliminary exams, before the Panhellenic Entrance Exams, which include Psychometric and Physical Fitness Tests as well as Medical Exams.

The candidates for admission in the Military Academies, having successfully completed the preliminary exams and having succeeded in the Panhellenic Entrance Exams, are admitted in the Military Academies where their education is divided into two categories, Academic Education and Military Training.

Military Training pertains to theoretical and applied field training, it includes lessons from the core of Military Science and aims to shape, strengthen character, cultivate military virtues and proper conduct, render the student an exquisite fighter and leader of small echelons, to familiarise them with the basic notions of tactics and the development, improvement and preservation of physical fitness and health.

What type of training do students receive?

Military training aims to render the Member of the Army an exquisite fighter and commander of military detachments. More particularly, it aims to enhance the physical resilience and to strengthen the body, to teach the handling of individual weaponry, the execution of fires with safety and accuracy with light and heavy weapons, the participation in marches, exercises etc., so as to consolidate the Member’s confidence, the preservation of morale and the increase of self-esteem.

Lifelong training

Military training is constant and it begins upon the Member's admission in the Army and is completed on the day of retirement.
