On Friday 03 April 2026, at the Hellenic Military Academy in Vari, Attica, the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Greece, jointly with the Hellenic Military Academy, organised a blood donation, on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the beginning of the E.O.K.A. National Liberation Struggle 1955-1959, on 1 April 1955.

The aim of the blood donation was to increase the reserves of the Blood Bank of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, in order to meet the needs in blood of Cypriot patients, Cypriot visitors and Cypriots who permanently reside in Greece. In total, 39 Cadets participated, of which 25 were Greek Cypriot, as well as 55 Greek Cypriot Higher Military Education Institution Cadets and Higher NCO Military Academy Students.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, Mr. Stavros Avgoustidis, the Commander of the Joint Command of Academic Education, Lieutenant General Anastasios Polychronos, the Consul of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs Christina – Stella Zinga, and the Commandant of the Hellenic Military Academy, Major General Vasileios Lambropoulos.
