On Tuesday 20 January 2026, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, accompanied by the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace (ΑΣΔΙΘ) «THRAKI» Lieutenant General Panagiotis Kavidopoulos, visited the Area of Responsibility of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace.

During his visit, the Chief attended the handover-takeover ceremony of Command Duties of the ΧΧ Armoured Division «CAVALRY DIVISION – MACEDONIA» in Kavala, from Major General Ilias Kostakis to Major General Aristides Kavarligkos.

Then, the Chief visited the 316 Technical Area Workshop (316 ΣΠΤΧ) in Xanthi, where he was welcomed by the Commanding General of the Hellenic Army Support Command (ΑΣΔΥΣ) «THISEAS» Lieutenant General Athanasios Saplaouras and had a tour at its premises. Afterwards, he visited the headquarters of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace, where he was briefed on the Formation’s mission, operational and training activities and provided guidelines to newly appointed Commanders of Formations.

Finally, he visited «MAJOR THEODOSIOS STEFANIDIS» and «RESERVE SECOND LIEUTENANT (INF) GEORGIOS PATSOUKAS» Camps, where he was informed about the progress of the construction works of Military Housing Buildings.
