On Monday, 19 January 2026, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) change of command ceremony took place in Vari, Attica, with Lieutenant General Anastasios Polychronos relinquishing command to Major General Vasilios Lambropoulos.

The ceremony was attended by the Metropolitan of Glyfada, Elliniko, Voula, Vouliagmeni and Vari, Mr. Antonios, the former Minister of Citizen Protection and Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Charalampos Lalousis (ret.), the Commanding General of the Hellenic Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Gakis, the Commanding General of the Hellenic Army Support Command “THISEAS”, Lieutenant General Athanasios Saplaouras, the Honorary Chief of Cypriot National Guard General Staff, General Georgios Basiakoulis (ret.), active duty Armed and Security Forces officers, foreign Defence Attachés, retired officers, academic authorities, and other guests.
