On Sunday 02 November 2025, in the presence of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr.  Konstantinos Tasoulas, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Thanasis Davakis and the Chief/HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis representing the Chief/HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis, celebrations were held for the anniversary of the Liberation of Metsovo and the Remembrance Day for the Fallen Cavalry-Armour Officers in 1940, at the Metsovo Cavalry Memorial.

The celebrations, among others, included a doxology at the Church of St. Paraskevi, a memorial service at the Cavalry Memorial to the Fallen during the 1940 Epic, where wreaths were laid, and finally a parade in Metsovo.

The event was honoured by the presence of the MPs for Ioannina Ms. Maria – Alexandra Stefanou Kefala, Mr. Giorgos Amyras, and Mr.  Ioannis Tsimaris, the Head of Region of Epirus Mr. Alexandros Kachrimanis, the Mayor of Metsovo Ms. Maria – Christina Averof, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Ioannina Mr. Maximos, the former Minister of Civil Protection and Honorary Chief/HAGS, General (ret.)  Charalambos Lalousis, the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ “ACHILLES” Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Epirus – Macedonia “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, the Commanding General of the Supreme Military Command of Army Support “THESEUS” Lieutenant General Antonios Theodosiadis, the President of the Association of Retired Cavalry-Armour Officers Lieutenant General (ret.) Dimitrios Kyriakos, active and retired Army Officers, and other guests.
