On Thursday 09 October 2025, in the presence of the Commanding General of First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLES”, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, celebrations were held for the commemoration of the 113rd Anniversary of the Battle of Sarantaporo, at the Monument of the “Military Museum of Balkan Wars – HATZIGOGOS HAN”.
Specifically, the celebration included a memorial service and a laying of wreaths by the Commanding General of First Army/EU-OHQ Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos at the Monument of the “Military Museum of Balkan Wars – HATZIGOGOS HAN”.
The ceremony was honoured by the Head of Region of Thessaly Mr. Dimitrios Kouretas, the Mayor of Elassona Mr. Nikolaos Gatsas, the Honorary Chief/HNDGS General (ret.) Ioannis Giagkos, the Archimandrite father Vissarion Karalaskos as representative of His Reverence the Metropolitan of Elassona Mr. Hariton, the Regional Coordinator of Civil Protection for the Region of Thessaly and Honorary Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” Lieutenant General (ret.) Dimitrios Bikos, the Deputy head of Region for the Regional Unit of Larisa, Mrs. Maria Galliou, representatives of Local Government, active-duty and retired officers of the Armed Forces and the Security Forces, and other guests.
