On Thursday, 09 August 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Simulation Division of the Hellenic Army Information Systems Support Centre. The Chief was given a tour of the Division’s facilities, briefed on the ongoing merging of existing software within the framework of using new technologies, and attended a demonstration of the information systems used for training activities.
Combining the use of state-of-the-art electronic equipment and the adoption of the new “train as you fight” concept, the Army merges the simulation systems of the various Arms and provides high-level training at both tactical and operational level.
At the end of the visit, the Chief congratulated the career and enlisted personnel for their professionalism and prompted them to continue their efforts unabatedly, since the widespread use of simulation and war games:
– achieves low training costs with high training results.
– provides instant availability of training assets with multiple scenario testing capabilities.
– provides the ability for the realistic testing of plans with increased security.
– achieves the intended friction in training.
– enables the review and criticism of the training in order to achieve the self-improvement of trainees, draw conclusions, and adopt lessons learned.
