On Sunday, 7 April 2019, the 78th anniversary of the Battle of the Forts of 6-9 April 1941 was celebrated in Forts “ROUPEL”, “OHYRO (ISTIBEI), “NYMFEA”, “EHINOS”, and “LISSE”. The events included a memorial service and wreath laying in memory of all Hellenic Army Officers and Soldiers who defended the forts during the battle of April 1941.
The ceremony in Fort “ROUPEL” was attended by the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, representatives of the political and religious authorities, active duty and retired Officers of the Armed Forces, and crowds of people, who had the opportunity to visit the Fort Museum and areas.
