On Friday 25 June 2021, the inauguration ceremony of the new wards at the Nursing Unit 6B, which was renamed to “Iakovos Tsounis” Wing, took place at the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Chief/HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief/HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Laloussis, and Ms. Athena Tsouni, the daughter of the benefactor Major General (Hon.) Iakovos Tsounis.
The project, which was completed by the exclusive donation of Major General (Hon.) Iakovos Tsounis, includes:

The realisation of modernisation works for the infrastructure
The configuration of a ward for people with disabilities
The configuration of four two-bed wards
The configuration of sixteen single bed wards
The configuration of two suites
The equipment of the wards with sanitary facilities and modern air conditioning system
The renovation of sanitary facilities for visitors and personnel
The configuration of the surroundings of the Hospital Gate
