Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Visit to Bulgaria

From 15 to 17 April 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, paid an official visit to Bulgaria, following an invitation from his counterpart, Major General Deyan Deshkov.

The Chief had a private meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, as well as with the Chief of Defence of Bulgaria, Admiral Emil Eftimov, with whom he exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. The meetings confirmed the excellent level of relations and the common will for even greater enhancement of the cooperation between the two sides.


Finally, the Chief, accompanied by his counterpart, Major General Deyan Deshkov, visited the 3rd Brigade of the Bulgarian Land Forces, where he was briefed on its mission and attended training activities.

Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands Operational Training

From 01 to 12 April 2024, Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands “AEGEAS” Formations conducted operational training in their Areas of Responsibility.

The training included, among others, heavy infantry weapon and artillery fire training. The activity confirmed the high level of operational training of the personnel in the technical and tactical use of the weapon systems.

D Army Corps Operational Training

From 01 to 12 April 2024, D Army Corps “THRAKI” Formations conducted operational training in their Areas of Responsibility.


The training tested multiple operational tasks and procedures in order to increase the operational readiness of D Army Corps Formations and Units. The training included, among others, fire training using all of the Formations’ weapon systems.

Chief HAGS Visits 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command Area of Responsibility

On Thursday, 11 April 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, visited the Area of Responsibility of the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “HIOS”.


During his visit, the Chief was briefed on the Formation's mission and operational and training activities, and visited Units, military installations, and a number of Surveillance Outposts and Logistics installations.


The Chief gave a short address, provided guidelines to the Formation personnel, and stressed the importance of mission command. Finally, he congratulated the personnel for their work.

Events for 83rd Anniversary of Battle of the Forts

On Sunday, 07 April 2024, ceremonies were held at forts “LISSE”, “ROUPEL”, “NYMFEA”, “OHYRO” (ISTIBEY), and "EHINOS” to celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the Battle of the Forts, which took place from 06 to 09 April 1941. The celebrations included a memorial service and wreath laying in memory of the Hellenic Army Officers and Enlisted who defended the Forts in April 1941.
