On Tuesday, 23 April 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, visited the Area of Responsibility of the 79th Higher National Guard Battalions Command “MYKALI”.


During his visit, the Chief was briefed on the Formation's mission and operational and training activities, and visited Units, military installations, and Surveillance Outposts.


The Chief gave a short address, provided guidelines to the Formation personnel, and congratulated them for their work.

From 18 to 19 April 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, visited the Area of Responsibility of D Army Corps “THRAKI”, accompanied by its Commanding General, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos. In particular, the Chief visited the headquarters of the XVI Mechanised Infantry Division “DIDYMOTIHOU” and the XII Mechanised Infantry Division "EVROU”, Formations, Units, military installations, and Surveillance Outposts.

During his visits, the Chief gave a short address, provided guidelines, and congratulated the personnel for their work.

On Tuesday, 16 April 2024, an event for the “Battle of the Forts” took place at the Municipal Auditorium of Xanthi “KONSTANTINOS BENIS”, in the presence of the Commanding General of D Army Corps “THRAKI”, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos.

The event included speeches by Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Charalampos Lalousis (ret.), and writer and historical exhibition organiser Colonel Vasilios Nikoltsios (ret.), who provided exhibits and historical uniforms from his private collection. It also included audiovisual material and a photography exhibition with photos from the collection of Mr. Anastasios Tefronidis and the Nymfea Fort.

On Wednesday, 17 April 2024, within the framework of the Philhellenism and International Solidarity Day, an exhibition titled “The Philhellenes and their Contribution to the Nation's Struggles” took place at the Larissa Officers’ Club, in the presence of the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstantakos.

The exhibition included exhibits from the personal collection of private collector Colonel Vasilios Nikoltsios (ret.), as well as exhibits from the area of Thessaly kindly loaned by the Folklore and Historical Museum of Larissa.

The purpose of the exhibition was to highlight the moral and material contribution of Philhellenes before and during the 1821 Greek War of Independence.

From 15 to 17 April 2024, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, paid an official visit to Bulgaria, following an invitation from his counterpart, Major General Deyan Deshkov.

The Chief had a private meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, as well as with the Chief of Defence of Bulgaria, Admiral Emil Eftimov, with whom he exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. The meetings confirmed the excellent level of relations and the common will for even greater enhancement of the cooperation between the two sides.


Finally, the Chief, accompanied by his counterpart, Major General Deyan Deshkov, visited the 3rd Brigade of the Bulgarian Land Forces, where he was briefed on its mission and attended training activities.
