From Monday 12 to Friday 16 June 2023, the Hellenic Army War College hosted a seminar on “Modern Leadership in the Context of Law of Armed Conflicts and Open Source Intelligence”, under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and in cooperation with the Cyprus Security and Defence Academy.

The seminar was observed by a total of 25 participants, senior Officers of the Armed Forces and Academics. In particular, 14 were from Greece, 5 were from Cyprus, 3 were from Romania, 2 were from France and 1 was from Belgium.

The General Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki Mr Konstantinos Polykarpou, the Director of the Cyprus Security and Defence Academy Lieutenant Colonel (ret) Symeon Zambas and the representative (training manager) of the European Security and Defence College Mr Christoforos Christoforou attended the commencement of the sessions.

On 15 and 16 June 2023, the oath-taking ceremonies of the New Conscript Soldiers of the 2023 C΄ Training Series were conducted.

The ceremonies took place in the presence of the religious and self-government authorities as well as relatives of the soldiers.


On Thursday 15 June 2023, at the dam of Saint Ilarionas, the Field Training Exercise “Dynamic Response – 23” was conducted, with the participation of detachments and assets of the 9th Motorised Infantry Brigade “ANDRIANOUPOLI”, the 1st Army Aviation Brigade “KILKIS-LACHANAS”, as well as members of the Kastoria National Guard Battalions, of Nestorio, Amyndeo, Florina, Kozani and Ptolemaida. During the exercise, subjects of asymmetric threat management were examined.

The exercise was observed by the Commander of the 1st Army/EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS” Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplios, the Commander of the C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” Lieutenant General Paris Kapravelos, representatives of the Local Self-government as well as active officers of the Armed and Security Forces.

From 12 to 16 June 2023, during the summer training of the NCOs Academy, in the context of the Military Cooperation Programmes between Greece and the UAE and between Greece and Romania for the year 2023, a visit of 3 Officers and 2 NCOs of the UAE Army as well as of 1 Officer and 4 Students of the corresponding NCOs Academy of Romania was conducted.

The delegations of the 2 countries visited the facilities of the NCOs Academy, the summer survival camp in Kanapitsa-Litochoro, they were briefed on the mission, the function and the provided training of the Academy and observed training activities taking place during the particular week of training. Finally, the Romanian delegation actively participated in the summer training of the students of the NCOs Academy.
