On Monday, 06 August 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited the Service Support Division in "OPLARHIGOU DIMITRIOU DALIPI" Camp in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, where he was briefed on the progress of the Formation's goals, according to HAGS's guidelines. The Chief then addressed the Headquarters personnel, prompting them to:
- seek co-operation with scientific institutions and the academic community.
- use innovation to deal with obsolete perceptions and chronic rigidities.
- make ingenious use of all available logistical resources.

During July 2018, the Army, within the framework of its social contribution, provided 1st Army Aviation Brigade helicopters for:
- 26 day and night aeromedical evacuation missions for the transportation of 29 patients from islands of the Central and Southeast Aegean to city hospitals.
- 16 sorties on firefighting missions, flying a total of 74 hours and conducting 368 water drops.
Army Aviation helicopters carry out the above social contribution activities in addition to their multiple everyday operational involvements (exercises, troop transportation, surveillance, reconnaissance, etc.).

Aviation in the Hellenic Armed Forces dates back to 1911 and the decision for the foundation of an Air Service, based on which Army pilots formed the Military Aviation.
The Army Aviation Arm and its 1st Army Aviation Brigade were established in 1998, while the 2nd Army Aviation Group was founded on 22 August 2005 as an organic part of the 1st Army Aviation Brigade, headquartered in the Megara airfield.
The 2nd Army Aviation Group's helicopter crews train every day, day and night, as they will be called to fight, participating in multiple joint and international exercises, projecting the Army Aviation's capabilities, and contributing to the increase of the Army's deterrence capability.

On Friday, 3 August 2018, the graduation ceremony of the students of the 30th Training Class took place in the Hellenic Army Command and General Staff College in “OPLARHIGOU DALIPI” Camp in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. The diplomas were awarded to the graduates by the HAGS Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Nomikos Antonios.
The Hellenic Army Command and General Staff College, as the highest Army personnel educational institution, prepares Officers of all Arms and Corps to become worthy leaders, Commanders, and staff Officers, with a multifaceted and comprehensive tactical and operational perception.
