On Friday, 15 July 2022, the oath-taking ceremony of the new Career Sergeants, Class of 2022 “Major (Art) Dimitrios Kostakis”, was held at the Career NCO School in Trikala, in the presence of the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis as representative of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, who awarded the diplomas to the graduates.

The ceremony, which was officiated by the Metropolitan of Trikki, Gardiki, and Pyli, Mr. Chrysostomos, was attended by MP Mr. Athanasios Lioutas, the Mayor of Trikala, Mr. Dimitrios Papastergiou, the Chief of Hellenic Tactical Air Force, Lieutenant General (HAF) Georgios Fasoulas asrepresentative of the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, the Army Inspector General – Commander of the Doctrine and Training Command, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Flaris, the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ “ACHILLEAS”, Lieutenant General Angelos Houdeloudis, Captain Paschalis Gounidis HN as representative of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, representatives of the local government and the Security Forces, as well as family members of the new Career Sergeants.

The ceremony was also attended by the grandchildren of the hero Major (Art) Dimitrios Kostakis, whose contribution to the repulse of Italian attacks in Kalpaki during the Greco-Italian War of 1940 was decisive.

A total of 192 Career Sergeants took the oath, of which 165 from Greece and 27 from Cyprus.
