On Friday, 02 August 2019, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kambas, visited the Area of Responsibility of the XII Mechanised Infantry Division "EVROS" and the 41st Infantry Regiment Tactical Command "SARANTA EKKLISIES".
During his visit, the Chief attended the opening of the Professional Soldier military housing quarters in "ANTHYPOLOHAGOU (PZ) GEORGIOU PATSOUKA" Camp, where he delivered the apartment keys to the beneficiaries.
The event was also attended by the Metropolitan of Alexandroupoli, Mr. Anthimos, representatives of the political leadership and the local authorities, the Commanding General of D Army Corps "THRAKI", Lieutenant General Haralambos Lalousis, and the Commanding General of the XII Mechanised Infantry Division, Major General Angelos Houdeloudis.
The Chief then attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Church of "Panaghia Stratigissa" in "ANTISTRATIGOU IOANNI ZISI" Camp in Alexandroupoli.
Finally, the Chief went to "DIMOGERONTA HATZIGIORGI" Camp on Samothraki island, Area of Responsibility of the 41st Infantry Regiment Tactical Command, where he was briefed on current activities, was given a tour of the Camp facilities, inspected the Rapid Intervention Troops, visited the Surveillance Outposts "KORYFI" and "TOURLI", and addressed and provided guidelines to the Command personnel.
