Chief HAGS visits the Area of Responsibility of the 98th Higher National Guard Battalions Command

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, visited Lesvos island, Area of Responsibility of the 98th Higher National Guard Battalions Command (98th  HNGBC “ARCHIPELAGOS”).
The Chief visited, first, the field exercise “KAMENO DASOS”, where he attended the Field Training Exercise “Fire and Movement”, performed by conscripts of the 2018 D Enlistment Series, in the context of their training in the Recruits Advanced Training School.
Upon completion of the exercise, the Chief visited the 98th National Guard Battalion (98th NGB), based at the “MAJOR (INF) PANAGIOTIS KIRIAZIS” Camp in Mitilini, where he attended a readiness and alarm exercise.  After that, he delivered a speech to the personnel of the Formation, highlighting, inter alia, the double mission of the Army in the fields of deterrence and social contribution, pointing out also the work of the personnel.  
Prior to delivering his speech, the Chief commended 14-year old Efstratios Skleparis, son of personnel of the 98th HNGBC, who, on Monday July 23, 2018, immediately offered First Aid Services (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to an aged bather, who had lost his senses, at the area of Skala, Vasilika.  He also congratulated his parents, Professional Soldier, Staff Sergeant (INF) Vasilis Skleparis and Professional Soldier, Sergeant (INF) Garoufalia Takidelli, for the values they have inspired with their son. 
Continuing his visit, the Chief visited the Surveillance Outpost “PROVOSKIDA”, where he attended a readiness and alarm exercise.  
The Chief confirmed the personnel’s high level of professionalism, the superb morale, the optimism and the generosity of heart.
